Artist description
Not Much is known about Foam Filter. They blew into the small town of Wichita Falls, Tx in 1992. The Average age of the members is believed to be about 14, but since nobody knew their real names or where they came from, we can't be sure. They lived in the back of the only punk rock club in town, The Refuge, because the owner liked them. They had the craziest and loudest live show that the town had ever seen. They would bring out a ton of pawn shop amplifiers normally at least 15 or 16 combos and stacks and daisy chain them all together. Then turn up all the knobs (volume, tone, EQ, etc) all the way up. Noone ever left a Foam Filter show with the same hearing ability that they walked in with. Even earplugs were defenseless to the decibel onslaught of these three guys. Normally at least one amp would catch fire, and they would just let it burn. During their hit single "My crotch is burning for you" Singer/Guitarist Robbie Rockit would spray hairspray on his crotch and light it on fire. He would then punch it out with his fist. Rumors have it he is sterile. But, as fast as they appeared, Foam Filter disappeared in the spring of 1993. The refuge burned to the ground one night during a show, when faulty wiring couldnt take the massive ohmage from their amps. When the rubble cleared there wasnt much left of anything. All show-goers escaped without injury, but Foam Filter was never seen again. Noone knows what became of them. Maybe they burned down with the Refuge. MAybe they just decided to move on. But in the Fall of 2000, A package came to us, here at BlueCar=BigScar Records, with 3 demo tapes in it. The labels said "Foam Filter- Cleaner EP", "Foam Filter- Songs of Love and Murder", and "Spiral Jelly- Stranger Things have happened & Uhhuh". There was no return address, but the postmark was from Zurich, Switzerland. The note inside (written in red lipstick) simply said "We were a great band once. RR" There was no note as to what the Spiral Jelly tape was, but it sounds like a newer, more mature version of foam filter. Who knows what went down after the smoke cleared after the refuge, but hopefully, somewhere the FF boys are still at it. |
