Artist History
The POLEBURN evolution began over a decade ago in Wantagh Long Island. When Darren Dan and Rob crossed paths at a local gym, Dan and Darren met and immediately became friends. At about the same time, Dan and Rob had seen each other at the gym. But did not interact immediately due to Rob's anti-social behavior.
One Sunday afternoon, Darren took Dan to a local hardcore show. Some say that Dan was so impressed by the show that he got a guitar and learned to play. While trying to join/form bands, Dan remembered that Rob was a bass player and had played in many bands in New York and LA. Rob and Dan got together, found a drummer, jammed and shortly came up with the earlier versions of POLEBURN songs "Lured" and "Solutions in the Noise".
In need of a lead vocalist, Dan recalled that Darren mentioned that he was a singer in another time. Rob thought Darren's words fit the music and the band line up was almost complete.
The time came to play a show, but the band still was in need of a name. The POLEBURN name came about when some of the guys were at an upscale bar establishment and observed a lady experience "POLEBURN" first hand. With the screech similar to that of dragging a rake across a chalk board, the only reaction was "That's Gotta Hurt" and "That's gonna be the name of the band"
POLEBURN shared a common challenge with "Spinal Tap" losing drummers. The combination of Dan, Darren, and Rob have reportedly played with over 15 drummers. As luck would have it, Darren moves into a house next to a beer distributor. And, just as fortunate, Darren meets Pat working at the distributor and Pat becomes the drummer of POLEBURN. The addition of Pat unquestionably brought the band to a new level
By combining a groove with the musical melodic sound to today's music. The live show of POLEBURN is energetic, fun and unpredictable, usually resulting in parties that run well into the next day. Recently POLEBURN has teamed up with a few of Fat Nappa's finest talent. This new addition has brought a new cross-over sound. And still evolving. Poleburn will be competing in the finals of The Long Island Music Festival.
