Artist History
Cire founder Eric Johanson wrote, performed, produced, and mixed
the 73 minute experimental rock orchestration, Pleasure Is Our Enemy, in
his personal studio in New Orleans (dubbed The Heresy Room). Eric started playing guitar at an early age reaching beyond his memory, and was recording his own instrumental rock projects by age 12. By age 13, Eric was interning at a local commercial studio, learning more about production and mixing techniques, but was never quite as interested in recording others as making his own art. As Eric was just starting high school he spent most of his time recording more diverse instrumental music and also joined a blues/rock band which he remained with for 3 years, playing regularly in clubs throughout Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, etc. Feeling the ever-persistent itch to be more experimental, Eric quit the band in 1999 and started writing lyrics and music for his own project, now dubbed Cire. Always
fascinated by different musical styles, Eric has progressed from strictly hard rock to blues, fusion, industrial, classical, and world music of Africa and the Middle East. As would be expected, Cire reflects a wide diversity of influences, creating a novel evolution of sound. Cire's music carries a certain un-ignorable honesty both in lyrics and melody, and integrates soulful musicianship with a modern approach to production and effects that crosses all traditional genre lines. |
