    Artist History
Jane Litwin Taylor - Born and Raised in Providence, RI, music was always a central part of her life. She's been singing as long as she can remember and took up the piano at age six. By the age of sixteen, she was tired of the confines of classical music and wanted to explore the more improvisational music that she was beginning to listen to. She says that she always felt a strong connection to the psychedelic sounds of the Grateful Dead and the Beatles (from Revolver on.) Her early gigs consisted of piano accompanyment for many camp theater productions and many camp performances of Beatles songs. As her musical tastes grew, she taught herself to play the guitar. By this time, Joni Mitchell had become a heavy influence and Jane desribes Joni as her "one and only true muse." It was then, in true Joni spirit, Jane began to experiment with open tunings on the guitar. She received much inspiration from the Thursday Night Music Group, an eclectic, imaginative group of musicians who Jane regularly played with while living in Boston. Soon the city became old and a longing for a simple life in the woods brought Jane out to Western Massachusetts where she makes her home. Jane describes living close to nature as connecting her with the divine creative spirit that pervades her life. Soon, she befriended Svetlana Speyer, the goddess of poetry and Greg Franceschi of the Barefoot Nunus. It was Svetlana who gave Jane inspiration to write poetry and Greg, in Jane's words, "being one of the most creative souls alive", continues to be her co-pilot into the musical unknown. The musical circle grew to include Bill Pearmain and George Koumantzelis (Aeolian Kid), two very talented creative geniuses. George is the master music producer and drummer extraordinaire. Bill is the master lead guitar player who saturates you with smooth, mindbending, original sounds. Jane met her husband Patrick Taylor through these kindred souls. Patrick, an organic farmer, studied drumming with Joe Platz and joins in during the Octagon Space Tribe jam sessions. It is here with kindred souls, with the backdrop of extraordinary beauty of the woods, the mountains, the streams and the wildlife of Western Mass. that keeps Jane connected to the universe and the divine creativity that is her life. Jane is also an accomplished Bead Artist who began studying traditional Native American inspired beadwork back in 1989. Her work consists of textured and highly detailed wearable art created from tiny glass seed beads. Jane has a real eye for color and composition and being inspired by nature, uses only glass, crystal, silver and semi-precious beads in her work. Keep an eye out for photos of her beadwork and more information about how to purchase her artwork
