Artist History
Dammar Fusion (pronounced day-mar) was formed in 1998 in Paragould
Arkansas. Members of Dammar Fusion are Mike Turner-vocals guitars,
Daniel Turner-lead guitar, Rod Cole-bass and Marcus Hunt-drums.
Dammar Fusion has had the same lineup since their inception.
Friendship has always been the cornerstone that has kept this band
together. In fact, Dammar is a combination of the band members’
first names.
Drawing from a wide variety of influences within the realms of
heavy metal, psychedelic rock, industrial, classical, blues and jazz
music, this band has forged a sound that has yet to be defined or
described. They have never been a cover band. The improvisational
spirit of collaboration and raising of consciousness through music
has always been the band’s forte, always working toward a full
expression of their innermost impulses.
Dammar Fusion has performed extensively in the Mid South,
especially within the Delta region of the US, a region well known for
producing enough musical talent that could fill volumes of books.
Everyone in the band was raised in Northeast Arkansas. Dan and Mike
knew Rod from attending school together in Paragould and they met
Marcus through mutual friendships. All of the guys were in bands
before Dammar Fusion. Paragould, AR is not typically noted as a
birthing ground for their brand of music, but they jammed with many
great musicians from the North East Arkansas area and in the process found
their own individual voice of expression.
When Dammar Fusion finally jammed together it didn’t take them long
to figure out that their chemistry was something more special than
any other musical experiences they had previously accomplished.
Marcus’s bone crushing grooves and subtle pulses, Rod’s wide open
and adventurous bass playing, Dan’s fiery esoteric lead guitar work, and
Mike’s three-dimensional song writing, singing, and rhythm guitar
capabilities proved to be the unshakable components that make this band
what it is today.
In the past couple of years, through consistent performance and
practice, the band has recorded two EPs worth of material (five
songs on each EP), and they have enough material to record at least
two albums. New songs are written all of the time because of
their constant desire to improve and expand. Dammar Fusion plans to
record a full-length album for independent release and distribution.
