Artist History
StinkCharmer formed when four graduate students from McMaster University found themselves with alittle too much time on their hands. Sean Carey (lead guitar), Rich Petrone (rhythm guitar and lead vocals), Tim Griffis (bass guitar) and Mark Stradiotto (drums and vocals) are all currently scattered around the country but continue to make music and gig. However, the gig schedule is much more sparse now, so be sure to catch then when (if) you can.
StinkCharmer was brought together under bizarre circumstances, bringing together very diverse musical interests and influences which are evident in the band’s music; both originals and covers carry that distinct StinkCharmer taste. “What type of music does StinkCharmer play?” That’s a tough one. Anyone who has heard or seen StinkCharmer agrees that it is a hard band to peg. However, if forced to label, StinkCharmer thinks of itself as somewhat of an alternative-like pop-rock band. Sometimes submitting to shameless pop-type licks and progressions, but often with a much heavier edge. StinkCharmer works hard at having fun, and making sure its audience does too, and therefore has never really thought about labeling itself. StinkCharmer just rocks.
StinkCharmer has been playing throughout Southern Ontario since November 1997, has currently released its debut CD (This Manic Marker), and has just begun plans to work on a second for release some time in 2002. Over its short gig history the band has attracted a rabid and rapidly expanding following, establishing a solid reputation for entertaining, song writing, and musicianship.
