    Artist description
Onebigmess draws heavily from many different influences. From Nirvana to Van Halen, from Fuel to the Stones, from the Smashing Pumpkins to the Eagles, Onebigmess has a little something for everyone. The band describes their sound as “a blend of angst-ridden melodies, lush guitar soundscapes, bruising choruses, and infectious pop hooks.” Their sound has been described by others as having 'dreary lyrics, and dreamy tones overwhelmed with raw emotion and musical power' and, as explained by another reviewer, 'These guys make jealousy sound so attractive at 98 decibels.'

    Artist History
For over five years, Lynn-based Alternative Rock band Onebigmess has been tearing up the local music scene. Starting in 1999, they have spent the last four years building a rabid fanbase, developing their songwriting skills, and wreaking havoc on local rock clubs. The members of Onebigmess all hail from the suburbs around Boston, Massachusetts, an area which has given birth to such hard rock dynamos as Staind, Godsmack and Aerosmith. Each member of this band brings a unique style to the Onebigmess sound. Much of the intricate material performed by Onebigmess comes from the mind of John O'Melia. The level of guitarmanship introduced by O'Melia allows Onebigmess to achieve a broad range of diverse musical styles not heard in many bands today. Singer and Guitarist Rob Kelley is the member of the band that adds the 'bang' to the material. When a song is lagging, Rob will add his thunderous distorted guitar and give it some punch. He is also the main lyricist, though not the only one. John has contributed to and co-written a lot of the material. The powerful drumming of Chris Deao heavily compliments the sound of Onebigmess. Deao is the kinetically-supercharged hellspawn behind the drums of Onebigmess. Deao brings a solidly ferocious backbeat to the mix. The newest member of the band, Jen Schromm, really holds down the fort. Whether she is dropping a Phat-Ass bassline or keeping the boys in line, she is the true backbone of the band. The next time your looking to catch a good band or if you hear about The Mess in your area, don't miss the show.

From www.Demorama.com: Here's a band from the northeast burbs of Boston that knows how to rock. Onebigmess has been kicking around (under various names and membership) since late 1995, but the latest amalgamation is by far superior and really has something to offer. Several tracks are available for download from the website, where you can also find other essentials such as gig info, photos, and even bookmarks from the members' own computers (very touching). Oh, and sorry Tom, there are no porn links among them. Believe me, I looked. "Drive Me Insane" is the latest track from this foursome. The tune starts out pretty quiet, with a slow, looping beat and Donald Fagan-type guitar spill chords. But then (as is the case in most doomed relationships) things heat up fast, it's suddenly over, and you're left wondering what the fuck happened. I think it should be called "Drive Myself Insane" since THAT'S the hook we hear repeated to a deliciously ear-splitting combination of screaming and cymbal crashes (and, if you listen closely, tinkling of beer bottles. Sam Adams I believe, but it's tough to tell when they're empty like that.) "Drive Me Insane" is all about the mental anguish inflicted by the singer's girlfriend's mind games. These guys make jealousy sound so attractive at 98 decibels. Rob Kelley (lead vocals) is a great screamer. While there's really no bio info on the website, I'm hearing influences from popular groups like Stone Temple Pilots and Smashing Pumpkins. So I'm sitting here in front of my PC following a night of heavy drinking (which in and of itself is NOT unusual) wondering how I can accurately convey the 'experience' that is Onebigmess. Hard-hitting screaming punkish rock seems an inadequate collection of adjectives. That or I need to grab another beer. Keep up the good work, guys. (thesource)
