History of Gospel Choir:
The Mt. Calvary #2 Gospel Choir was formed in 1976 under the leadership of the late Sis. Ora
Mae Stevenson. At that time the choir was called the Young Adult Choir. Well, after awhile the
choir grew and they became older. They could no longer be called, “Young.” That’s when the
choir decided to change the name to Mt. Calvary #2 Gospel Choir. The requirements were that
you must have a BA degree “Born Again,” must be eighteen years of age or older, and you must
have a love for Christ.
God has really blessed our ministry. We have been blessed to travel near and far to spread the
Gospel of Jesus Christ. Some of the places we have traveled to are: New Haven, Connecticut,
Atlanta, Georgia, Trenton, New Jersey, and Logan, West Virginia. Not to mention all of the
local appointments that we have accepted. The gospel choir started out with twenty young
women. Now the choir has grown to fifty-two members.
God has blessed us with a Holy Ghost filled pastor, Rev. James L. Smith, Sr., along with his wife
Drucilla Smith and their three sons, whom we love very much. We truly thank God for our
musician Larry Hill of three years. We thank God for the opportunity to spread the gospel in
song to the world through this CD. We realize that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is coming
soon and we want to reach as many souls as possible. May each of you be blessed as you listen
to each of these songs.

History of Sunbeam & Jr. Choirs:
The Sunbeam & Jr. Choirs range from ages 4 to 18. These children get their start whenever they
feel that they are ready. The Sunbeams are ages 4 to 11. The Juniors are ages 12 to 18. There
are 32 memberes on the Sunbeam Choir and 34 members on the Junior Choir. We are blessed to
have Mr. Robert Stanley Jr. as the musician for the Sunbeam and Junior Choirs. We truly thank
God for him. The Bible says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: And when he is old he
shall not depart from it.” {Proberbs 22:6} Our children are following in their parents’ footsteps
very closely.
They go from different churches to sing, nursing homes, and sick and shut-in neighbors’ homes
to life up Jesus’ name. We are very proud of our youth. As we go from day to day we ask that
you keep us in your prayers. Ecclesiastes 12:1 says, “Remember now thy creator in the days of
thy youth.” Pray our strength in the Lord.
