    Press Reviews
"The music is bouncy and light. This artist is technically very gifted! The vocals were dead on and --regardless of my ability to understand the lyrics -- flowed nicely. This has fun written all over it. This would be the perfect song for a soundtrack, as it doesn't call to much attention to itself and just feeds the audience with a good feeling vibe. Markus and the age of Steamboats have a great sound, and I wouldn't change a thing... Bottom Line: Great feel, Sounds great (even for a lo-fi recording), technically proficient and wonderful performance. But, probably not worth the download unless you particularly must have a feel-good song on your playlist." Clint Gaige (godsofmusic.com) on "Hat" "First on the list: music. The tune is nice, and the instruments, though I can't really differentiate too well between then, sound well played, giving this song a total indie pop feel. Second on the list: vocals. They are interestingly intertwined with the music on this one, with the deep Russian voice of Marcus flowing over everything. My feeling is that this really does sound good, the vocals fit the musical material, giving this song a very intresting Russian flavor. I know I haven't given you much, but this IS an interesting track, and I suggest you go give it a listen. I may not have been able to understand his message, but it still worked for me." Jonathan Sanders (godsofmusic.com) on "The One (Who Wrote This Song)" "Markus and the Age of Steamboats "Glossolalia" opens up to a nice slow guitar riff introducing you to the song. Slowly the other instruments join in to make a great song. The best way to describe the instrumentation in this song is to think of it as a story. The instruments flow in and out; as you walk through the song with the guitar as the storyteller, the other instruments flow in and out. It reminds me of the song that comes on in a movie where the actor is looking out the window somewhere and thinks back on past memories. When I think about what makes this song great just about every part of it comes to mind. I like the way the music flows throughout the whole song. The way it opens up with a softness to lead you into the song; like a shy child opening up to an adult. All of the instruments work together nicely. I like how during the singing the guitar softens, so as to not over power the vocals. The bass and the kick drum stay together keeping the rhythm consistent. Towards the end of the song the bass breaks out for a second into a more active bass line which adds more flavor to the song, and at the same time it helps to keep your attention. There is the use of different instruments also in the song to help keep your attention sustained. The recording is also good, with all the parts equally placed in the mix. One problem many people could face is that this song is in Russian, so if you are a big lyric person and you do not know Russian this song is probably not for you. I would still suggest checking this song out though. Not knowing the language didn't bring the song down a bit for me." Sheldon Lessard (godsofmusic.com) on "Glossolalia"
