Artist History
A two-time college dropout, I'm now the owner of an internet business in Reading, PA. My true passion is for music, though, pure and simple. I love listening to it, and I love playing it. Really!
I began playing guitar in 1989 and gradually learned to play bass and a little keyboards. Along the way I also became interested in composition and MIDI programming. I learned to play guitar by jamming along with AC/DC and ZZ Top. Let me tell you, it works! Although, my tastes have expanded a little since then.
I played in a punk/improv band called ICU for five years as guitarist and sometimes vocalist, based first in Rochester, NY, and then Philadelphia, PA. We had lots of fun, experimented, freaked out, fought, played a lot, and eventually "broke up" (as they say). We're all friends now.
I once played three practices and a gig with a band called Aslan. It "didn't work out". I also did a fill-in on bass with the Kutztown University Jazz Band. Honestly, that's probably the largest audience I ever played for, not to mention the most sober. We did Glenn Miller's "In the Mood", among other things. I showed up with a Black Flag sticker on my bass case.
I used to use the name Soundscape (that was before I realized Robert Fripp was already using it), and I "released" a 5-song self-titled tape in 1993. By "release", I mean I spent lots of money and time making tapes and giving them away at ICU gigs and anywhere else I could. Soundscape got lots of critical acclaim, however, which gave me a big head and cursed me for several years. Programme D'Experience is the natural successor to Soundscape.
Music is the closest thing I've found to real magic. No shit! Its more than just pleasantly organized sonic vibrations. When used appropriately (sorry, Britney Spears), its spiritual, enlightening, transcending... in a word, magic! I love neo-psychedelic music. Pulsating, mind-warping, twisted head music. I love heavy guitars infused into a tight arrangement. Unexpected changes. Odd time signatures. Funk beyond funk. Noise beyond noise. Color. Chaos. Freak out! |

Press Reviews
Programme D' Experience is an eclectic mix of instrumental songs brimming with musical ideas. This is primarily the singular effort of Brad Bansner who writes, produces and plays all the instruments. Guest musicians contribute for added depth and provide some interesting twists along the way. Fusion, rock and jazz styles blend well with the compositions which are playfully strung together for a solid statement.
The pace of the album is somewhat deliberate and yet mystifying and avoiding the obvious. The guitar arrangements are most pronounced and provide a potent accent to the uncluttered arrangements.
The "meatier" tracks fall somewhere near the middle of the CD where more of the creative twists and turns are evident and the instrumentation is its most varied. Programme does a more than adequate job of holding the listeners attention throughout the CD with fairly short tracks (the longest is the 6 minute "Beyond Experience) and some distinct melodies.
Do yourself a favor and EXPERIENCE this fresh and unique approach to music. |
