    Artist History
I've been writing songs for over 20 years. I've written well over 1000 songs in that time. One of my aspirations is to have any one of those songs covered by another artist or band. Could happen...I've been the main writer for 3 previous bands; Strobic Axe 1978-1981, Bamboo 1982-1986 and The Nation 1986-2001. Bamboo went on to be signed with Capitol/EMI in Canada, as well as having a publishing deal with ATV Music (the publishers of Lennon/McCartney) before Michael Jackson bought the company.

    Press Reviews
Mike Peters, Buyer at HMV.com (Canada), had these words to say about Alex Stangl: "Tales of broken hearts, broken dreams, lost love, and the wearisome grind of daily life in Smalltown, Anywhere - these are the specialty of singer/songwriter Alex Stangl. But don't be tricked into assuming Alex is a one-way pity trip to downsville. Faith, hope and charity, more often than not, sprout up gleefully amongst the dark tones. Alex seems very much like a man who understands and appreciates the value of a simple smile, a gentle touch or a kind thought in this harsh world. Musically Stangl relies heavily on the chiming of simple acoustic guitars and the rhyming of a heartfelt, charmingly out of tune, voice. Listeners may be reminded of a more upbeat "Lou Reed style" vocal, or perhaps even an early "Neil Young type" voice, still struggling to find itself. But there is a nobility and glory in this struggle, complete with some glowingly low key harmonies. If you're digging the modern day neo-folk style of Travis and/or Coldplay, then you won't be disappointed in Alex's delivery. At times, those vets in the crowd may even hear touches of the densely melodic guitarwork of The Church. Overall Alex can be highly recommended as an alternative to those overly angst ridden "alternative" bands, "perfect pop", "boy/girl groups", and the near talentless "beautiful people" solo acts of this day and age."
