Artist History
Up in Arms is the living, breathing dream of four friends who want nothing
more than to create music. Forming in the winter of 2001, they have done
everything they can to make this dream a reality.
Up in Arms is all about rock. They love music and love to perform it. "We
want the audience to feel what we feel," explains Joel, "whether it's seeing
us live or listening to our records. We write songs that people can relate
because we're normal people. We write songs we would listen to in our own
cd players." What kind of songs are those you ask? Most describe it as a
fusion of emo, indie rock and punk. Some call it emo. Some pop punk. Some
just call it rock. Whatever it may be, it is definately something
different. A combination of chunky riffs, huge breakdowns and super tight
harmonies is what defines the music of Up in Arms.
The boys are all about playing live. They have played just about every huge
venue in Southern California, including The Palace, The Whiskey A Go-Go, The
Roxy Theatre, The El Rey Theatre and The Showcase Theatre just to name a
few. They have opened for bands like Ozma, Slow Coming Day and Limitpoint.
Their live show has been described as "highly energetic and electrifying."
Up in Arms strives for a "do-it-yourself" work ethic. Their first full
length record, "Here's To You" was recorded and produced completely by the
band, selling 50 copies in within three shows of it's release in December
2001.
In early 2003 UIA was approached by Rob Trisler of Orangepeal Records and
was asked to sign a record deal with his label Milktree Records. They
decided it was time to take it to the next level and signed with Milktree in
April 2003. Up in Arms will be going into the studio in May to record their
new EP entitled The End of November. It will be a reflection of the blood,
sweat and tears that were shed in order to make it this far. Up in Arms is
dedicated to take this dream as far as it can possibly go. |
