Artist description
Sheryl's music is piano-based rock 'n roll leaning towards the jazz edge. Her poetic lyrics resemble the architecture of songs built by Kate Bush, Elvis Costello, Tori Amos or Rickie Lee Jones. Her piano stylings were spawned creatively from earlier sources (she started playing in 2nd Grade), such as Nat King Cole, Scott Joplin, The Beatles, Elton John, XTC, and Thelonious Monk. Put that all together for a music that bends willowy around moody grooves, quirky changes, and captivating vocals. |

Artist History
Sheryl's from pioneer stock. After her birth in Montana her childhood followed a nomadic American upbringing. She claims being the fifth generation piano player (on her maternal line). Her early influences included her Uncle Dean's 8 track collection (notably, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band). Her college experience included DJ work which promoted musical discoveries from King Crimson and Kate Bush to Thelonious Monk. Her late blooming songwriting career started after completing a self-designed college degree, "Aural Media." She currently teaches piano and performs in Seattle, Washington. |
