Artist History During 1984, distressed by television footage on Africa's young famine victims, Eugene sat down and wrote the lyrics, melody and chorus to "Letter From A Concerned Citizen (Starvation In Africa)". This song was selected by the Canadian Red Cross to use as a national public service announcement (PSA) on television and radio to help raise funds for the Canadian Red Cross's relief efforts in Africa. In addition, in 1986, on the Variety Village and Sick Children's Hospital Telethons, Gene performed "Call Me", a song he co-wrote and recorded to assist the fundraising efforts of different children's charities.
