Artist description
Aren't you fed up with pretentious, pompous musicians, bands, and other so-called "artists" that take themselves way too seriously when you know that they are just trying to suck more hard earned cash from your wallet to purchase their over-produced pap? Aren't you looking for a break from hammer-on-the-head ideas of image? Do you want the truth? Can you handle the truth?

Artist History
From the I-35 corridor that stretches between San Antonio and Austin, Texas comes UNIVERSAL TRUTH, formed by music veteran (Lung Overcoat, Mystery Dates, etc) and media master Sir Charles Gruber (descendant of Franz Gruber of Silent Night fame) and Tom Rehkopf , former model, writer, and leisure time guru. After being partners in The Radsoles , San Antonio's most critically acclaimed and popular alternative rock band of the last decade, Charles and Tom felt it was time for a new, intensely focused musical project to respond to the countless injustices of "hip" society. The result is UNIVERSAL TRUTH, straight-ahead pop music that doesn't rely on love songs or over-indulged poetry. With the addition of Chris "Lie" Crigger (bass) and Chris "Truth" Huff (drums) the UT nucleus is complete. The band has a cocksure swagger, but with it's tongue firmly in cheek. A genius sense of humor lies between the lines of guitar driven rock-n-roll and danceable alt-pop. On their debut album the band takes on the universal themes of today's culture of cool: tattoos and identity (Symbol of Confusion); smoking chic ( Dragon Lady); obsessions (Plastic Museum), etc. The band's rockin' I Ain't Jackin' ("A terrific song"*) has already been selected for a featured spot in the upcoming documentary, Agent Utah .
Why UNIVERSAL TRUTH? Simply to shine a bright hot light on the dark, dirty secrets of trying to be cool and hip in the world today. A universal culture whose only real truths include "shit sells", "money changes everything" and "bullshit makes the world go round". So roll your eyes and show your disgust with everyone who is trying to cram their image of you down your throat, and scream out "I want The Truth!" Now crank up the tunes, laugh at yourself, and for once just enjoy being you. Your therapy has begun!
