Artist History
Strangelight began as the musical brainchild of singer/guitarist, Raman and guitarist Bill Royall in the summer of 1999. Even though Bill and Raman had a closet full of song ideas to draw from, they would often start from scratch with the aim of serving the creative Muse. During this process, they gave birth to the sound which would become the foundation for their debut album.
Upon composing enough material for an album the two began looking for other musicians to form a band. They soon found Bill's high school friend and bandmate, drummer, Steve Ringo (yes, it's his real name!) and recent San Francisco transplant, bassist, Jason Smith (yes, it's his real name too!) in March, 2001. Musically, Strangelight seems to link a chain between early 70's Progressive Rock and modern day Britpop. Their debut release on Somatic Records is available now! Email us to buy it. |
