Artist History
Born on May 28th, 1976, Christopher Rae grew up in exceptionally rural Maine listening to 80's new wave pop such as Pet Shop Boys, Thompson Twins, Erasure, Information Society, INXS and New Order. It wasn't until he heard Depeche Mode's "Violator" that he began to seriously pursue music, by enrolling himself in piano lessons. In high school, he was drawn towards more aggressive, heavier industrial-rock music such as Front 242 and Nine Inch Nails. Four particular albums that inspired him were Ministry's "Psalm 69", Prong's "Cleansing", Faith No More's "Angel Dust" and Helmet's "Meantime", after which he began to teach himself how to play/abuse a guitar.
He attended college at both Wentworth Institute of Technology and the University of Maine, where he majored in Computer Science, and then Mass Communications, respectively. In college, he began to write music by himself and with others. The first band that actually took off was Boston-based [Int 21h], in which he played keyboards. After graduating from the University of Maine in 1998, he moved to Boston to pursue a career in web development, including working at iCAST.com as a Senior Web Developer, and as a Rock Music Producer. [Int 21h] played a dozen gigs in the Boston area and recorded an album in 1999, "Syncomplete", before Christopher left the group in 2000.
In early 2001, Christopher was relocated to San Diego, California to work for NaviSite Streaming Media as a Software Development Engineer, and is currently enrolled at San Diego State University pursuing a Master's Degree in Technical Writing. He started writing music under moniker Null Character, and slowly finished building his home recording studio, Yogurt Torpedo Studios. The first song to emerge from the finished studio was "Bottom Tourist". If all goes as planned, and it never does, the full length album will be out by [insert some arbitrary date here] for your materialistic consumption needs.
He also enjoys speaking of himself in the third person. |
