Artist description MAX ALLEN MAX ALLEN is a 17 year-old singer/songwriter, guitar prodigy who is breaking into the local Indianapolis band scene with the support of the reformulated Jam Band. His guitar style and technique come from several years of instruction in multiple genres of music, such as blues, jazz, rock and classical. Max has received formal training from such artists as Dave Morgan, Kelly Jay ("Kelly Jay Orchestra") and Brett Terrell (Butler University). Max's music has been heavily influenced by some of the all time great artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Albert King, Buddy Guy, Jimi Hendricks and Wes Montgomery. He plays guitar and sings with great feeling, energy and proficiency far advanced for his age. NICK RUDMAN Big Nick, on the bass guitar, has played with various bands including the original "Jam Band" as well as "Doug Spencer and the Blues Angels". Nick has been playing in and around Indianapolis for the past 30 years. Having previously played in separate bands with Chris and Mike, and having watched Max grow up, Nick's relationships with each of the other members of the band helps make him the nucleus of the group. His bass rhythms and melodies also provide the musical back bone for the rest of the band. Nick is partial to rock & roll, blues and jazz music and says his style was strongly influenced by such artists as Antonio Burritho of "Canned Heat", Jazz player, Stanley Clark and Tim Bogart of "Cactus". CHRIS CRAVENS Chris, on drums, also an original "Jam Band " member has played in an around Indianapolis for the past 25 years. In addition to the "Jam Band" Chris also played for the "All Nighters", "Chooch and the Enchanters" and was a regular on the Indy Club circuit for years. MIKE BROWN Mike, on the keyboards, harmonica and guitar is the musician's musician of the band and also has nearly 30 years of experience under his belt. Having grown up in Chicago, Mike cut his teeth on some of the best blues artists of all time (literally - Mike began playing piano when he was 6-years old). Mike has played in a number of different bands around the country and most recently has been playing with "Doug Spencer and the Blues Angels". Mike's style of music was influenced by artists such as Al Cooper, Buddy Guy, Mike Bloomfield, B.B. King, Joe Cocker and Leon Russel.
