Artist description -ego- has stemmed from the younger minds of Tampa, creating an interesting blend of emotional outrage with a more quieter, ambient feel. "We play how we feel, but we try not to force it on you," says Jeremy Franklin (guitars). "A lot of times, the shit that I'm writing about is deep, and I'll go back to read what I've written and I'll just be like 'Fuck...." quotes Sean Muehlenweg (vocals). This blend of originality mixed with a little Taproot, Incubus, Staind, and other influences gives -ego- a very distinctive sound, creating a desolate atmosphere, where the listener is often left wondering what the hell just happened. With ages ranging from 16 to 18, talent is definitely shown, and the future is very promising. Along with all that, drummer Daniel Johnson has overcome a disease known as Retinitis Pigmentosa, leaving his vision totally lost (yes, he is a blind drummer). "I don't think of it as a loss, I just think of it as a challenge. A lot of people are amazed that I can play drums so well, even though I've basically lost my sense of sight, and I don't know, maybe that is special, but I just overlook it, knowing this is something I have to do, sight or no sight." Artist History Sean Muehlenweg has been involved in music most of his life, playing everything he can get his hands on. Meeting Jeremy Franklin in school, he proceeded to have jam sessions with Jeremy at his house for a couple years. After a while of talking about furthering in the music business, they finally met up with other musicians who are now out of the current group listing. Finally, they met up with drummer Daniel Johnson who has maintained high status in the band. -ego- is now currently trying out new bass players, having just lost their 3rd.
