Artist description
SQ-1 is a very energetic emopoppunkrockband from
Belgium. Check them out if you're into fatwreck &
drive-thru-bands...
With their very own style, a mixture of heavy
guitars and catchy melodies, jazzy basslines
and energy driven drumrolls, and the occasional
clean interlude that makes people stop hitting
each other, say sorry and form friendships in the
moshpit, the band has found the secret to success
to blaze through to the top!!! |

Artist History
I'm not sure when it started... Was it when Chris
and Maarten were producing up-tempo tunes somewhere
in a rehearsal poolhouse? Was it when Bert joined
them both and added some more depth and gave them
the required medication to slow them down? Perhaps
it was when Koen was brought back a second time
to introduce to them something that's called rhythm
and some random perversions. It might not even have
occurred then, maybe it was some months later,
after tuning all their individual styles and
crafting it into one, that they found out they
had the power to create melodies that cling to
the brains and leave listeners singing along.
But sing along to what?
So the next logical step in the process was to
search someone capable of grasping melodies,
someone able to interpret the lyrics that
Bert writes, as well as writing lyrics himself.
Lyrics that people can relate to, about love
and heartbreak , about depression and direction,...
In Frits, they found the right person for the job,
locked up in Chris' car, after a feeble attempt
to steal it, incited by some movie featuring
Angelina Jolie.
But instead of turning him in, they decided to let
him sing, completely unaware of the fact that he
possessed the harmonies that can make people
doubt over lifetime convictions. A diabolical
force that had to be applied for a good cause, or
a punkrockband. He preferred the latter… and the
band was complete... with one goal...(getting laid,
making money, selling out, making music, not
having to work, ...) ...or another. But the justified
means to reach it!
