Artist History In 1989 guitarist Sean Hugunin and drummer Brad Roberts came together to form the band, "Deities." For seven years, the to young musicians have been composing original songs and performing their style of heavy, aggressive music for fans in their home area, the San Francisco Bay Area. In 1993 the band entered the studio to record their first demo tape titled "Symptoms of Insanity." From Japan to New Jersey, this tape received enthusiastic responses from fans, radio stations, and fanzines. Deities went through a great transformation in the middle of 1994. After going through several different bass players and guitarists, the band finally secured a serious line up with bassist Skot Leach and guitarist John Soby. Also, the vocal duties, once performed by guitarist Sean Hugunin, were passed on to the charismatic and more appropriate front man, John Soby. This allowed Sean to concentrate more on his guitar playing. With these changes, Deities began writing material for a second demo. In writing the new material, the band took a more mature approach this time. They learned more about theory, dynamics, tone, technique, and better, more effective ways to structure their songs. At the end of 1995, Deities once again entered the studio to record their second demo, "Icon." This time, the band spent more time and money to insure that they would produce a quality release. The six songs contained on this demo are by far the most creative, impressive, diverse, and imposing material the band has ever created. Unfortunately, a short time after "Icon" was released, the band broke up. Like most breakups, the band split due to some creative difference, some personal differences, and the usual cliché band problems. Though the band did break up, they remained friends and four years new things are stirring up...
