Artist History
In these days of formulaic pop sensibilities, how often does a song snap your head around and make you listen? How often can performers convey all the emotion and pathos they feel and make you feel it too? When slick production so frequently displaces songwriting and spontaneity, how often can you sing the chorus by the end of the first listen, tap out the beat and really feel uniquely moved?--------------------Listen to a few of the songs from this band, and you'll realise it's been far too long. The dynamic pop rock grooves that can fill any headspace, distinguish Ultraviolet as songwriters and performers surely destined to make their way onto the airwaves and out into the hearts and minds of millions. --------------------With influences as diverse as U2, The Cure and Tal Bachman, Ultraviolet have deftly blended their eclectic taste with their uncanny feel for a groove, to create a feel that is at once innovative yet still immediately accessible. In fact some of these songs are so utterly unforgettable, I guarantee you will find yourself wondering aloud "where the hell have these guys been hiding?"--------------------Melbourne-based Ultraviolet are Chris Budiselic and David Ellis. United by the desire to write emotive yet accessible songs, they came together through a mutual friend several years ago. Chris' dynamic, and richly emotive vocals are the perfect vehicle for their soaring pop melodies, and he is complemented by their intelligently arranged music. The two have built a recording studio, endeavoring to create atmospheric pop feels and memorable lyrics, bringing the songs to life through performance, recording and mastering on site.--------------------Through innovative self-promotion, these guys have already tested market acceptance for their product and have created a modest sales demand, quite a feat for these unsigned, essentially unknown artists especially when you consider the surfeit of material available. -------------------- So, forgotten where we started? Hit the music once more, and let the cool pop rock of Ultraviolet wash over you.--------------------However, if you want to hear the very best Ultraviolet have to offer, there's only one option - get hold of the debut CD now-------------------- The CD has some absolute killers not available for full/free download on the website, such as the pure pop 'Everywhere You Go' and 'Closer To Me', the gorgeously hypnotic 'Ocean Blue', and my personal favourite, an incredible spine tingling vocal soundscape, simply titled 'Drive'--------------------If there's one thing that this band have shown me already, it's that in an industry where image and marketing counts for almost everything, it doesn't necessarily have to be at the expense of songwriting talent and genuinely impassioned performance.-------------------- Helen Farley - Oct 2000-------------------- |
