Artist History
Formed in 1968, the band was originally called "Soul Searchers", with brothers Kenyon, Kevin and Kim Ross, and 2 other members. They soon changed their name to "Family Plann". Modeled as a funk version of the Jackson 5, the band's roots are in Toledo,Ohio. But in 1973, they moved to Atlanta,GA. They recorded several singles for independent labels, before being picked up by T.K. Records, home of K.C and the Sunshine Band. They charted several times during the middle part of the 70s, and opened for acts like The Sylvers. They played in Atlanta clubs, becoming a household name. But in 1979, Kim and the other 2 members left the band, leaving Kenyon and Kevin with the Family Plann name. The next year in 1980, the two brothers reformed the band. In the 80s, they recorded counless amounts of songs and continued to play clubs, and in 1989, they worked with Hall of Fame legend Llloyd Price. Later that year, they changed their name to "Sit'n On Ready". In 1993, Kim Ross rejoined the band. In 1998, they changed their name simply to "The Ross Brothers Band". They continue to play Atlanta clubs, making them one of the best known funk/r&b bands in Atlanta. Their new CD is entiled "It's Time!". It's only $5.99 and includes 8 hot R&B/Funk songs. It includes the 7 MP3 songs shown here, and also includes a extended remix version of "Sexy Summertime", found only on the CD! |
