    Artist History
Drawing their uncanny power from the rays of Earth's yellow sun, the Know How have been giving Gainesville all the silly string, inflatable animals and hot, buttery rock and roll the world desperately craves. The Know How is a 7-piece rock/ska band hailing from Gainesville, Florida. The band formed in 1998 by lead vocalist Skyler Stone and keyboard player, Alex Lee. The Know How began building up a sizeable fan base early on by playing local shows and doing small tours around Florida. Within two years, the tours have grown larger and spanned across the United States. Recently The Know How completed a 2 month U.S. tour eventually landing them at the Van’s Warped Tour. Playing the punk and ska oriented festival for a third straight year, these seven friends introduced their brand new 2nd album HAPPYFUNROBOTKILLTIME, to the swarming masses of fans they have gained over the past 4½ years. The Know How have landed opening slots on non-festival tours as well by some of the best known punk and ska bands such as The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Reel Big Fish, Mad Caddies, The Ataris, MU330, The Pilfers, Against All Authority, Flogging Molly and many more. The Know How has toured nationally with Mustard Plug, Allister, and Whippersnapper. Some of these bands have had a pronounced influence on the Know How’s music, which combines ska, rock and punk to create songs with tight bass lines, Moog keyboards, and plenty of personality that gives it a sound that's characteristic and uniquely its own. The Know How’s new rock/ska-inspired album one can expect to hear poppy tunes such as the Karate Kid-inspired Daniel Larusso is Going to Fight!, the mock metal intro In the Key of Metal as well as newer offerings such as the horn-tinged, zippily sung I am Spartacus. The Know How has always believed in a DIY approach by writing their own music, booking their own tours, distributing and pressing their first two albums, silk-screening their own t-shirts and even oversees a merchandising operation for themselves as well as other bands. Over the last couple of years, their following grew beyond their expectations. With the help of the Internet, they had the #1 most downloaded ska song in the state of Florida on MP3.COM for the last three months and have held the position of #7 most downloaded ska song in the nation. Gainesville is already known for spawning national punk rock favorites such as Less Than Jake, Hot Water Music and many others. The high energy, power-packed Know How will soon be solidifying Gainesville's reputation as a superb music scene as they continue to establish their own identity. The Know How holds music and the band as their first love and priority. Currently The Know How are planning a Spring tour to Northeast U.S. and Canada and plan to record another album in the fall of 2003
