Artist History TAO ZERVAS, a music composer and producer based in N.Y.C., is the creative force and guitar player of the cutting edge musical group SOULPUSHER, as well as the artist behind numerous sonic projects aimed at sound installations and film scoring. He was born in 1965 in Athens, Greece and attended the "Deutche Schule Athen" ,(1977-1983), where he studied music and wrote his first pieces for the school's theater productions. During the same period, he was involved in the fledging alternative music scene, as the writer and guitar player of one of the first rock bands to immerge out of Greece after the dictatorship, that included TV appearances, interviews and shows. (NAON,1979-1984). In 1986 he moved to N.Y.C. in search of more artistic challenges and here he graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Kean College(1988). The years that followed found him involved in the alternative music scene, as the leader of the band SUMMER SUSPIRIA,negotiating the tightrope between commercial success and artistic integrity. In 1994 after a few years' unsatisfactory involvement with major labels, the SOULPUSHER album "Inviolet" was released by Existential Records, and he performed extensively with the band in N.Y.C.,as well as started to concentrate more on production and film scoring, as well as web page audio consulting, creating the SUNSTRANGE Production and Publishing Company. In1998 he took part in the exhibition "Winter Works 98-99" at the Tribeca gallery "Art In General", creating an audio piece, using a toy piano, ascending moans and a host of electronic stringed instruments. TAO is currently at work on a multimedia installation project entittled EMOTIONS 1,2,3,4. as well as SOULPUSHER's second album due out on Fall of 1999.
