Artist description Nalini's current project is The Balkan Peace Album recording at Sonora Recorders. This CD features music that speaks to conflicts and issues of our age. This is Nalini's debut as a recording artist. She is joined by a cast of friends and artists. Many styles of music are represented by these beautiful melodies, lively percussions, rich harmonies, live orchestrations and a children's choir assembled for this project.

Artist History The Balkan Peace Album will be released next spring during the Balkan Aid Drive for human rights and youth groups in former Yugoslavia. The project is a memorial to peace activist Shin Yasui, a Japanese native who helped to launch the Mladi Most youth center in Mostar and worked as a journalist/researcher during the wars in Bosnia and Kosovo. Earlier, as a sociology student at U of Oregon, he formed a peace group to help war victims in Bosnia, Tibet and East Timor. Tragically, Shin died in a car accident in June 1998. In her song, "A Voice Within," Nalini shares her conviction that even though he has passed on, we can continue to honor his life and be inspired by his path of peace and kindness.
