Artist description
First of all, this is the band nationally known as Life On Mars. There are namesakes, but they ain't us. Life On Mars is pfun crossover (an we mean crossover) music for fun. Yeah, we said it. A bunch of serious musicians, given up on making our way in a specific genre. No. As it turns out, it's more fun to make fun music. Don't groan at fun. It is still very grounded music, but music exhausted from the pathos so prevalant these days. Everyone in our musical funhouse is accomplished on their instruments and writing. But we decided to form as a band to play trans-world groove music. What is that? Eric calls it New World Rock. Huh? We're spun on jazz stations, AAA stations, modern rock stations, and Phish folk and DMB folk seem to love it. What's that mean? Well, in a nutshell (which is hardly enough to contain these musicians) we use a rock foundation to explore music from around the world.
Performances are always unique, and include memorable songs
ranging from quirky rock to reggae, from swinging jazz to Afropop,
from Sufi to surfer. Cruising grooves from around the world in a funky rock-it.
We like to call it New World Rock. |
