Artist History
"If I remember you when I'm famous, then don't forget me if I'm not. If I'm never on the cover of Rolling Stone, will you still think I'm hot?"Drawn from singer/songwriter, Jo Davidson's critically praised debut cd, "Fragile Tough Girl", this unique and vital artist explores the dichotomies associated with being a budding rock star. It's title alone evokes a paradox. On the surface, her music explodes with charm and sex appeal. Brewing underneath are feelings of loss, hope, anger and questioning. Her honest lyrics and melodic hooks create an introspective blend of pop/rock reminiscent of Tori Amos, Alanis Morrisette and Fiona Apple. Fragile Tough Girl demonstrates Davidson's ability to do it all! She wrote all 11 tracks on her CD in addition to playing piano, keyboard, most guitar tracks, all vocals, and handled co-production duties with Greg Ladanyi (Fleetwood Mac, Jackson Browne, Don Henley). Together they recorded each song at Jo's studio in Los Angeles, CA with the help of gear endorsements from Panasonic and TC Electronics. The end result is an album rich with texture, deep in it's message and soaring in it's melodic quality. The industry is in agreement. Jo has had her songs placed in Film and TV such as "Tom and Jerry The Movie, Blossom, Felicity and "Forever Lulu" starring Melanie Griffith and Patrick Swayze. Her songs have been recorded by artists like Stephanie Mills, Melissa Manchester and Meat Loaf. She toured with Susanna Hoffs (formerly of the Bangles) as a keyboard player and backup singer, and Jo was recently featured in an EQ magazine cover story. She has taken top placements in such notable competitions as the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and Billboard National Song Contest. With a killer debut cd and an impressive resume, it would appear that we might not have that long to wait before seeing Jo Davidson on the cover of Rolling Stone!!! |
