Press Reviews
You're just a two-bit pothead with a bong for a girlfriend searching under your bed for your moldy Legalize Hemp petitions until you've experienced the addictive, debilitating, fearsome jolt of Crack, an utterly likable group of gents from the sprawl and malls of suburban San Jose. They come forth bearing singsony punk, butt-rattling ska and a tinge white-boy funk. They're a chorus of squeeks, shouts and nonsensical harmonies, and they do a memorable cover of "Centerfold" by the J. Geils Band - Adam Bregman, LA Weekly / CRACK COULD never be the Next Big Thing. The band's brand of gooey pop, garrulous punk and eerie new-wave rock nestled between two slices of white-bread funk can turn off even the most tolerant of music fans. A scan of the band's Web site reveals scant press clippings--four of the five were written by me. Crack is not pretty to look at, let alone listen to. They make dusted drug addicts look like Boy Scouts. - Todd S. Inue, San Jose Metro |
