Artist description Conductor Paul Dulude, along with the most musical among his colleagues and friends, founded Boston Virtuosi in 1997. The motivation behind the orchestra's founding was the musicians' desire to work closely with colleagues they respected, in both orchest ral and chamber music settings. They were also interested in working with a conductor whom they knew would be responsive both to the music itself and to the ideas of the musicians. Over the past four years the BV has evolved into a passionate, lyrical en semble that communicates the heights and depths of the music it performs. BV musicians work together during rehearsals to discuss their musical ideas and interpretations, an approach that has helped create an ensemble that is strong and happy from the inside out, and which lives up to its name. Freedom to be an ensemble of individuals finds expression not only in dramatic performances but also in the choice of works to be performed. It is this truly collaborative spirit that infuses each new program with the energy that BV's performances and recordings exemplify today.
