Artist History
Blis-Tech Front was originaly brought about by Paul Hancock (lead singer) and Mike Gardner (synth/backups) in March of 1992. Paul had been looking to start a band for a while and met Mike through an interesting incident. Mike, being a strict vegetarian, was protesting against consuming meats at a public barbeque where he ran into Paul. Being the savage carnivore that he is, Paul really didn't want to listen to all of Mike's crap about dead cows and so, with the help of a bad day at work, a fight broke out. Story goes that Paul and Mike ended up spending the night in Washington County Jail together where they made their peace and learned of each others equal interests in the music industry. Paul told Mike of his interest in putting together a band as so Blis-Tech Front was born! The name "Blis-Tech Front" translates to: Blis=happy, Tech=music type, and Front=(as in storm front), which in turn corrigates to "A Techno-Happy Front. As soon as it was formed, BTF took an interest in looking for other musicians to join them and after sitting through many auditions, decided to let Mike's younger brother Dennis Gardner (synth/backups) become a part of the group. These three played for 2 years writing such hits as "Kiss of Death" and the ever so popular "Sometimes it's like the Weather," and producing 2 Albums ("Kiss of death", and "Trash Can Demo") after which the band went in search for another addition to their unique synth/pop sound. Many came and went, trying to add their own sound to the bands'... but BTF found no one to their taste. Then a friend of Paul's mentioned that a cousin of his was moving to St. George soon. He had been playing keyboard and writing his own techno style songs for years. So, the band agreed to give him an audition and after a few weeks of practices, the band welcomed Jeremy Wilcock (main synth/programer/guitar/backups) as their newest member. Over a course of the next year and a half, the bands' sound went through a rapid growth on account of Jeremy's technicaly advanced equipment. New songs were written and it was again time to produce another album, and so the well-known "Shame" was released which included popular tracks such as "Emotions", and "Shame and Disgrace". |
