Artist History
Founded in Erie, PA summer of 1998, and origanally formed with Pat Walbidge on bass & vocals, Mike on guiatrs, and Justin on drums. With Pat wanting to expand his vocal ability, they were on the look out for a bass player. Enter "Preston" a college friend of Justin's, they played thier first show as "CutThroat" in November of '98 opening for a local Akron band "Spawn" at State Street Tavern..
Soon after in December of '98 the then "CutThroat" had parted ways. Ten months later in October of '99 reformed without Preston, and having changed the name to Self Inflicted they started wrighting, with three songs and Pat returning to double duties as bass player & vocalist. Hit the studio and layed down some tracks for a demo in February of 2000..
With Pat wanting to play bass, they were on the hunt for a vacalist. After a long hunt (two weeks) and not being able to find a vocalist, Neo, former band mate of Justin and Pat, was asked to play bass. This led to Pat being the full time vocalist.
Playing thier first show as Self Inflicted on March 25th of 2000. Creating a huge following right from the start, Self Inflicted hit the studio once again in April of 2000!
At which time, they recorded their first full length CD "Play The Fool" with five new songs and rerecoded versions of the three demo.
While playing the "814 Head Fest" in August of 2000, Dale Davidson was asked to take over on samples for the show. Dale's band "Hurst" was unable to make the show at the last minute. Dale then invited himself on stage every show there after. Self Inflicted then decided to add Dale as a second vocalist and to take over on samples full time.
Playing shows through out the tri-state area with many national and local acts, and continuing to wright new songs, went back into the studio in April of 2001. At which time they recorded thier second full length and first professional CD "BLANK".
Continuing to play shows and gaining a strong following in Cleveland and Pittsburgh, put off wrighting new material.

Press Reviews
Ballbuster Magazine wrote : This is not a band you want to experience when you're wasted because they'll take full advantage of that and just blow you away. This is a band that boldly/proudly states that they're one of the most intense bands that you will ever witness and, let me tell you, I'll be the first person to agree with them. Sometime during this event, I was handed a pre-release copy of their ten song CD, "Blank," and, let me tell you, this disc is amazing. As I described it in an earlier review, "It's fast, heavy, loud...pure sonic fury!" Now that I'm familiar with their music, I'm hoping I have the opportunity to see them live again. http://www.selfinflicted1.com |
