Artist description
Jimmy McCusker aka Jimmy Magoo: Former member of the band John Thursday, a Chapel Hill-based foursome that
specialized in an eclectic and unique brand of music covering Pop, Funk, Swing, Blues, Rock, and returning to Funk.
Currently Jimmy is the Artistic Director of the WideAwake Theatre Company.
Inspired by the Muppet Show and Warner Bros. cartoons, playwright/ director Jimmy Magoo wrote sprung! to rouse his audience from its current malaise. "Through this show, I am trying to marry my art with my beliefs and show that the best life we can live is one of good food and friends and art and love. It's an ensemble piece. [What people are going to see in the performance of the show has as much to do with everyone in the cast as it does with me."
Jimmy has written and directed several other shows including Alice All the Way, Satchmo and Izzy: A Cat's Tail.
Jimmy has collaborated with seasoned musicians Nathan Logan (drums and percussion) and Frank Tornoe (bass) to create this music here as a precursor to a presently untitled show. Jimmy wants to focus on a more musical production this time around
The music was recorded at Chasing Light Studio http://www.chasinglight.com in April/2001.
