    Artist History
It st e arted with a name. What's in a name? a FUCKING lot. how about a description of my life as a teenager in 1992-1995. I knew Chris from junior high, He was always setting off smoke bombs, and I knew he played guitar because he told me in french class the year before as we played scrabble with french words I spelled QUEIFF and he backed me up when people said it wasnt a french word because it wasn't in the french dictionary. I told Pete that he was the bassist and informed him that he had to buy a bass. I don't know why but I knew he would be good after all he had introduced me to primus. Jerimia was the drummer from Chris' other band Chance Tidyman's band, and Ed Sui was asked to join as keyboardist, he only ever showed up once. With that we began practicing our little band's music and writing songs all the time in the garage at chris' house. WE played some driveway shows and some parties and had a great time hanging out we were more of a gang than a band. Jerimia would show up at chris' house alot to use the bathroom then he wouldn't show up for practice he was so punk rock, anyway Soon Jerimia clogged up Chris' toilet one too many times and he was out of the band we loved Mia but we stood buy Chris' decision. We already had been playing with this new kid his name was Mark, he was like 14 or something but he could play drums better than anyone we had ever seen. For a long time, like two months or so he would come over and play as our spare drummer when Jerimia wasn't there. We would practice all the time but we would hardly ever play shows we were never that confident in ourselves I don't know why but we never felt ready, maybe I could haved tried harder too promote us but I didn't know how. Instead we built up awareness that the band was in existance one of our favorite things to do after playing was to go to kinko's and make stickers and litterally put them everywher all over the town all over our respective high schools Pete and I went to Monte Vista Chris and Mark went to San Ramon and of course we were pining after girls and hanging out at lyon's or java bay and all the danville hot spots and sometimes playing shows, and practicing away for years soon we moved our operations to Marks house where we would be greeted by Marks crazy little dog Starla who would get so exited when we came over she would pee on your shoes. Girls would come over to meet us at practice before going out. Alot of times we'd go to see concerts in the city which was always exciting and crazy especially when going to see band favorites like They Might Be Giants and Ned's Atomic Dustbin. We were all best friends and when we had problems we would all help each other. When Pete couldn't take it at home he slept on my couch for a month. Once we broke up for about six months, but that sucked so we got back together to practice and play and hang out and play Mariokart I moved into this castlelike place in Alamo and I had my own apartment and we hung out there and partied a lot and we'd practice there too, and then High School was ending and we ramped it up to play shows that summer we played two blowout Concerts at the Danville Vet's Hall, I gothed it up to scare the hippies after we had been knocked from the headlining spot by California Asparugus, how disgraceful, But we made our prescence known with a dramatic entrance. The next day we made the recording on a four track we borrowed from Chris' brother. Pete went to work right after, and just like that and our band never played together again. Pete and Mark moved to Santa Cruz after a year. I stayed in town and attempted to go to community college. I don't know what exactly happened in Santa Cruz but tensions arose between Mark and Pete, Chris wasn't hanging out with them now at college and pete and mark had typical roommate problems. Pete, at the age of twenty met a girl named Regan and he had a baby, I guess before that I said stuff that I thought a friend should say in that type of situation, but he I guess thought was an attack and I guess we all had drifted away by that point. There is so much I'm leaving out like the motivations behind the songs and so much growth and experience and fun that we had during those times and all that kind of bullshit, and I know they'll never come back I hardly ever get the chance to see Chris or Pete and Mark I see from time to time, Normally I'm not one to get all weepy over the past I like to be future oriented, but man when I hear these songs I have to feel like some lame ass Billy Joel video. I guess it's not so lame I guess the word that describes it is Nostalgic which I never want to be because it means you're old but WHATEVER, I don't give a crap, and as you may be able to tell from these recordings I NEVER DID, So call me whatever you want nostalgic though it may be. I miss those days and I know they are never coming back. So there you have it Raise a Glass and Kiss My Ass Here's to those days Here's to DX
