Artist description
Jason(J) and Charlie were fraternity brothers at Millsaps College who became roommnates in May of 2001. One played the guitar and one played the bass. While playing in a recreational softball league, they met DJ, who said that he also played the guitar. They decided to all get together to jam around a little. J and Charlie had been working to fine tune some of J's original songs. The first time they all played together, DJ had improvised a solo right away to one of the originals. It was so profound that the three started working on the rest of the originals. Since then, they have a nearly completed debut CD, tittled Lonely Road. The newest member of the group is Ben, our drummer. Ben works as a fireman in Jackson. 10-21 is a group that shares a common interest
in music. They are influenced by many musical styles
and enjoy a wide variety of music. Their style is a mesh
of their various talents as musicians and songwriters and
composers. |

SWEARDOG'S STORY OF THE WEEK: NIGHT #1 (Gulf Shores) Well, there we were in Gulf Shores, Al. Me,J, and all the cats in our group. Unfortunetly, DJ couldn't make the trip. But these other guys that went are our best friends. These are the guys you grew up with and/or went to college with. These are the guys you call when you're in a lot of trouble and the same guys that would take a bullet for you if needed. These are the greatest cats out there. We spent three nights in GS and this story will recap the events of the first night.
We arrive at the resort that Gordo rented for us- nice place- had 3 bedrooms, entertainment center, balcony overlooking the ocean, kitchen and a washer and dryer. There were seven of us: J, Gordo, Petty, Norto, Isaac, Brooks (Doo Doo), and myself (sweardog). Doo Doo drove from New Orleans and picked up Isaac and Petty in Mobile who flew in from Austin. Me, Gordo, Norto, and J all rode from Jackson in Gordos truck. So, like I said, we just showed up in gordos truck, and we hear from about ten stories, "WHATS UP, MY MUTHA F'ers?" We look up to see Petty- no shirt, belly sticking out, eyes closed, beer in hand and overhead, no shoes and with that special sway to him like he can't compete with the breeze. We check in and immediately head to the beach. As we're walking out there, we see the profile of an itty-bitty body, hands on his hips, and a knoggin' only rivaled by an adult rhino- its Doo Doo. We hung out at the beach and then went to dinner at the Live Bait. Back to the hotel for a preparty where petty almost got into a fight with our downstairs neighboor who told us to be quiet and that it was a family resort...yeah right. We left for the infamous FloraBama. We all proceeded to drink. We split up and little and here are some of the separate stories:
A pretty girl and his date are walking down towards the pier to the beach. Isaac, seeing that the girl was a hottie, says "Hey! You wanna go for a walk on the beach?" the boyfriend, looking ready to say something to get himself killed, began to speak when Gordo, the dominant male, hollars out to him, "HEY, he wasn't talking to you...why don't you just turn around and go with your girl...little bitch." What else could the dude have done? Gordo's from Gulfport, Ms, 30th Paralell. Those cats are hard.
I, also being from the 30th paralell, answered the call to arms and drank a leg of beer (i drink out of my prosthetics for all you new fans...a little gross sounding, but its alcohol...it kills grems.) Crowd goes wild. I get drunk. I wake up to, "SWEARINGEN!!!) I look up and we are at a new bar and there are people right in front of me playing pool...and i have no clue who they are. i found the guys, and we decide to go home. We get a cab and fit 7 passengers into a small cab with a big ol' cabbie. Two of us in the front seat (Gordo and J), four of us line the back seat(me, Isaac, Norto, and Petty)and then Doo Doo lays across us in the back (hey...gotta do what you gotta do). The cabbie looks up and says to Doo Doo who was currently squirming like a worn on a sidewalk, "son, you look like a monkey f---ing a football." Now, i don't remember this scene exactly, so the rest is recolections of my compatriots. I say in awe of such a thought, "A MONKEY F---ing A FOOTBALL? WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT LOOK LIKE?" cabbie replies, you ever seen a monkey f---ing a football?" I said no. Cabbie, "well, look at your friend there." Then me and the cabbie get into it because he said there was no way i could run back to the hotel. I got pissed. i do remember that. i said, "I can run...I could beat your ass..." He said, yeah but i'm fat..." I said, " yeah, i don't have any legs..."
We finally get home and i get in a fighting mood, so i lunge to tackle petty. he sways out of the way and i fall flat on my face. everybody said the they thought i was going to come up bloody. i was ok exect for everybody laughing at me. we go upstairs, isaac and i get into some wrestling and i made him tap out. i was sore the next am, but hey one drop in the bucket, Q, one drop in the stain bucket...all that last little bit is an addition from norto.
the song, "one of those nights" will be up soon, and all these cats are in it. Night#2 is on the way. |
