Artist History About Tenille..... This is a Singer/Songwriter with a powerful voice that makes you sit up and listen. Diminutive in size but when she starts to sing you wonder where that dynamic and soulful voice came from - this is Tenille. Tenille is a mixture of South African/French/Scottish/Samoan/English and Maori and with that combination of cultural backgrounds her presence is breathtaking. Music has, literally, been in her blood from birth. Tenille is self-taught in saxaphone, clarinet, and has had a formal education in classical/modern piano. All her growing years were around stages and recording studios, thanks to her father who was South Africa's top singer, with No. 1 hits dominating the charts in the 50's and early 60's.It is no surprise, therefore that music is her first love, and she has dedicated herself to create a niche in this very competitive arena, thus, continuing the tradition. She has been writing originals since the age of 13, producing, and performing weekly in local bands. To further her 'craft' she became interested in how recording studios functioned and for 7 months she worked 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, alongside Perth's top Sound Engineer - whose experience included working with the Eurythmics. In between gigs, she continued with her original work, and wrote a prolific array of original songs. With her combined experiences, she created interesting and provocative music, with "Just Want You", as an example of her song writing abilities. She also produced and designed the CD cover, and assisted in the production. Resulting in her successful launch of the single at Club A. Her self-promotion of this launch resulted in people from the industry coming over from Melbourne and her subsequent meeting with Shane Monopoli (Liberation/Heaven Recording). That night the crowds bought most of her CD's and they all wanted their copies signed. She has reached the top 20 in an Australian wide competition, with the song "Just want you" written by Steve Bartels and herself. This song was entered with approximately 3000 other original artists in the Australian Songwriters Association Competition. She also has reached the top 40 artists, and was a featured artist on Java Music's webpage, generating copious amounts of fan mail. Musicnet also featured her as their 'Artist of the week". DJ-Light from Atlantic Records in Florida has requested Tenille's vocals on his next album. A representative from America is willing to market her material (he has represented prominent bands including the band "Korn" .) Recently, she completed her 'long waited for' Demo album, in collaboration with Tom Haran and Michael Craigmile, who were personally recommended to her by Liberation Records. She then proceeded to market herself in Melbourne, presenting her demo album to Stuart from Sony, Warren from Mushroom/Liberation, Adrian from Standard Records, Con from Zomba records. Tenille performed 'live' for Channel 31 (Asylum TV) followed by a 5 minute interview. Tenille has succeeded in getting television coverage by being promoted on Channel 10 'prime time' News. We have since been informed by Channel 10 reporter, Narelda Jacobs, that Tenille was seen by over 70,000 people in Perth alone. The package also went to air around the country on the late news with Tenille being featured in regular updates throughout the night. After her trip to Melbourne, she has been requested to perform at the launch of "The Beehive" in June where Michael Gudinski, Asylum TV and other industry people will be in attendance. She has achieved all of this by working hard and working independently, and has enjoyed a modicum of success. Being a dedicated, professional and a self motivated person, she is well prepared for whatever may eventuate to achieve her goals.
