Artist History
Blitzkrieg Pop. Intelligent Indie. Triumphant College Rock.
Since 1999, The sounds of Davis’ Bellstar has been lauded by music press with a variety of terms.
One music critic said simply, “You just can’t help but be excited about Bellstar.”
Combing influences that range from Radiohead, Wilco, Weezer, Beck, Built to Spill and vintage REM … Bellstar fuses a sound that’s explores sonic edges, without betraying a dedication to the palpable sanctimony of pop rock.
Things have moved quick for this quartet. Formed in 1999, the band was soon opening for some of the regions biggest acts, and some noteworthy MTV darlings. They’ve shared stages with Alien Ant Farm, The Damnations, The Brodys, Forever Goldrush, Grub Dog and the Amazing Sweetheards, and Go National, to name a few. They’ve worked hard to become a regional act, playing gigs from Tahoe, Reno, Chico, to San Francisco, Oakland, Stockton and Southern California.
In 2000, their song Diva was featured in a nationally distributed landboarding documentary.
In the fall of that year, the band began work on their debut CD. Working through most of 2001 in their home studio, the band finished the album in the spring of 2002. “Navigator” was released in August of that year, and is currently finding airplay of 25 college radio stations across the country.
