    Artist History
When someone moves away from home for the first time... Satan often tries to turn them from everything they have ever been taught, both morally and spiritually. He tells them that now they are free to live any way they want to, although like everything else he says, it isn't true. Rev. Billy Graham Several months ago, I was reading the Rev. Billy Graham's syndicated column and came across a letter from an individual who would soon be leaving home to attend college. The writer indicated he or she was a Christian, and had friends and acquaintances who had turned their backs on their faith after leaving home. The writer asked Rev. Graham for advice so that he or she would not follow the same pattern. To this, Rev. Graham responded with the above, and offered the following three suggestions: 1. Make certain of your personal commitment to Christ. 2. Take time to be with God every day. 3. Seek out other believers. This person's letter, and the response that followed, struck a chord with me. I, too, grew up with what I would call the traditional suburban Sunday school type of life, and even attended a Christian school for several years. By the time I was in college, however, I was definitely out of the habit of going to church. Moreover, my relationship with God had become distant, and really didn't register as an important facet of my life on a day to day basis. It wasn't until a friend of mine invited me to attend Sunday services and Campus Crusade meetings with her that my attention turned towards my relationship with God. Since that time (several years ago now), my relationship with God has become and remained an important facet of my day to day life. This brings me to what I had in mind when I started Opera Angelicus. While praising the Lord, I hoped to reach those who were either on their own for the first time, or soon to be so, and remind them to keep their relationship with God as a focal point in their day to day lives. As the letter writer pointed out, once you're on your own, it's all too easy to let your faith slide. What's more, the things one does, or does not do (i.e. church attendance) provide the basis for one's habits, and those habits that one establishes in the early days of new found independence all to often become part of that person's long term lifestyle. Suddenly, missing a few Sundays doesn't seem quite as trivial as it used to. Hopefully, the music we create can glorify Jesus and remind Christians of their commitment to Christ, encourage them to further praise him and study his word, and bring believers together. Don't get me wrong, if someone who has not accepted Christ should happen to hear our music, and his or her curiosity should be sparked such that he or she should endeavor to learn more, and possibly even eventually come to accept Christ, wonderful! We must remember, however, that no one is saved through music; be it ours or anyone else's. It is only through Christ's sacrifice, and the acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Savior, that one may be born again and saved.
