Artist History
My Lost Cause as it is now known began in the Summer of 2002. They began as a trio, not really knowing how they were going to make it work. After a few practices of Derek and Jesse switching from guitar to bass, the three decided it was time to look into finding a permanant bass player. After little searching, they decided to add Preston, an ex-bandmate of Gene's from previous bands. They started playing local shows, and recorded an eight track debut EP, entitled "It Didn't Kill Me." The band decided to take it to the next level in November of 2002, when they booked and played their first successful tour, playing spots like Las Vegas, NV and Los Angeles, CA. In March of 2003, they did the same, but covered much more ground, ranging from Arkansas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada and passing through many more states on the way. At that point, the band had 2 successful U.S. tours under their belts. After the 2nd tour, My Lost Cause decided to enlist Mike, their merchandise man from the last tour, to play 2nd guitar for the band. With Derek on vocals only, My Lost Cause doubled their live energy, and also improved their live performance all around. In April of 2003, My Lost Cause was asked to work with The New Beat Records, an indie label from Tennessee that works with bands all over the United States. The New Beat released a promotional acoustic sampler in Summer 2003, entitled "You Can Sleep When You're Dead," to support My Lost Cause's next tour. The quintet then did what few local bands do, and left home for their 3rd U.S. tour on July 1st, 2003, and didn't come home until August 10th. That tour included shows in Texas, Georgia, Louisiana, New Mexico, Ohio, and several in California. The band is now working on "Cross My Heart and Hope You Die," which is to be released on The New Beat, and should be available in Winter 2003. |
