Artist History
Mr. Mikey
Dj, Singer, Composer and Music Producer Michael James AKA "Mr. Mikey" in the music business, was born and raised in Bermuda. Music being his first love, he has been in the industry since his early teens and has performed and produced many hits, since then. He started out producing underground tapes from Reggae to Hip Hop to R & B. His most recent work "It's Over" recorded by Dwight Jones of Studio B, will be released in early August 2001. This new Cd will feature " It's Over Over ", " Hot Girl Party 2" , " See No Mon Dat Me Fraida" and "It's Over (Instumental)".
Mr. Mikey has been in the presence of Great Musicians such as Sleepy Wonder, Trevor Sparks, Bobo General, Corey Don, Luciano, Sizzla and James Born. From these great experiences, he learned about agents as well as production and how to write lyric's. He learned music instrumentation from being in the school band and from his good friend Aaron Christopher of Spear Chuka Studio's in 1990 AKA Daddy Criffa. From 1988 - 1990, he performed with Dynasty 1 live, spinning records, singing and being a DJ. During this time he also did sound clashed with Colin Christopher AKA " Humble Irie" of Wild Fire Sound against "Stone Love Crew" from Jamaica, Juggling Jason of "Jah Life Sound" and Scott Degraff AKA "Rocky" of Awesome High Power. In 1992 he composed and produced " New Style Fe Dem" which he received Honorable mention for best song in the Bermuda Grammies and also was the # 1 video in Bermuda reining for the year. In 1993 Mr. Mikey recorded " Boom Body in NYC with Michael McDonald & Sean Caisey at HCF Studio. In 1995 he recorded "Life Ruff" collaborating with Daddy Criffa. In 1998 he released "Big Shalonga" and " Hot Girl Party" which was recorded by Steve Easton of Just latinum Studio's and collaborated with Donald Robinson AKA "Detrimental D". Shortly after, in 1999 Mr. Mikey recorded "See No Mon Dat Me Fraida" and " Hot Girl Party 2" featuring Tonya Iris AKA "Tonya Labre" recorded by Just Platinium Studio's with Steve Easton and engineered by Orville Malcolm AKA "Wiz Malcolm" of Canada. In 2002 Mr. Mikey will be releasing brand new singles on his Independent label " MADD ZULU CREW" and will be working with other artist's in Bermuda as well as the U.S.A.
