Artist History Hailing from the Netherlands, Amethyst was formed in 1996 and played gothic/blackmetal until 2000, when the keyboard player and female singer left, and a new drummer was acquired. From then on, AMETHYST wanted to continue with a different style, being melodic death/black metal in the likes of Dissection, At The Gates, etc. In july 2001, they recorded their new showcase "From A Thousand Years Of Slumber" in 1,5 days.
