Artist History The Christmas Tree is the brainchild of musician/producer Jeffrey "Thomas" Thompson. Now based out of the Memphis, Tennessee area, Thompson first gained notoriety in the Dallas music scene as a young drummer. He worked with many local favorites in the rock and punk scenes as both a contributing musician and producer. After relocating to the Memphis area, Thompson started up several bands featuring a wide variety of sounds. Thompson began The Christmas Tree project in the winter of 2000. He was looking to create a style of electronic music that is rarely heard in the U.S. Following the sounds of artists like Autechre, Aphex Twin, and Massive Attack, Thompson crafts a sound that walks an interesting line between Intelligent Dance Music and Drum n' Bass. But the sound of The Christmas Tree isn't just limited to those areas. Through the use of guitar and live drum loops, Thompson frees The Christmas Tree from some of the conventional boundaries of electronic music, creating a sound unique unto itself.
