    Artist description
Ask Speak the Language to recall the toughest question they've ever answered, and they'll pipe up in unison with: "Describe the band." The trio's self-titled debut CD demonstrates their eclectic approach. The ska flavored "Why Him" is followed by the funky progressive "Happiness" and the classic jangly American pop/rock of "In the Shade." And that's just the first three songs. Guitarist Emile Menasche notes: "We can be lots of different things and still be ourselves."

    Artist History
Speak the Language's background is as diverse as its music. Guitarist and computer freak Emile Menasché has worked as film composer ("Parallel Sons," "B. Smith with Style," "Strength"), producer/engineer (New Middle Class, Monica Zane, Dean Friedman, David Amram) and music journalist (including a stint as Editor of "Guitar Shop" magazine). He's about to publish his second book for Hal Leonard "The Desktop Studio." Lead vocalist/bassists and longtime collaborator Bob Hoffmann, brings a flair for classic pop arranging that offsets co-writer Menasché's blues and rock leanings. "Bob's voice is the core of our sound," Menasche notes. "He glues together all our elements and makes us whole" Drummer Tom DeMartino, a veteran of the East Coast club circuit as well as the music publishing biz, powers the band with a fluid and eclectic drumming style. His recording credits include Brian Tarquin's Ghost Dance, among others. Tom, who is an active teacher, is a graduate of the prestigious University of Miami music program.
