Artist History As three 19 year olds, we, the members of SIDESHOW, moved into a house in regional N.S.W. to avoid distraction and concentrate on progressing our sound. We started writing straight away and knew we had something special. During this period we played at numerous pubs and clubs, won a band competition and headlined two local festivals in a period of 6 months. Upon returning to Sydney, SIDESHOW recorded a self-funded EP, and commenced regular performances at venues such as The Iron Duke Hotel, the Annandale, Northpoint Tavern, Metropolis and The Greengate Hotel to great reviews. Copies of our CD were available at the shows and we managed to sell 450 of the 500 CD's printed. The EP was featured on MMM as demo of the week, and on demand SIDESHOW returned to do a small but intense tour of regional N.S.W. During '97-'98, SIDESHOW continued to write and perform everywhere possible. We placed a huge emphasis on harnessing our style, sound and structure. SIDESHOW, now armed with 2 years of singing lessons and rehearsals recorded another demo, however this time only releasing it to industry contacts for feedback. With this advice SIDESHOW headed for the hills and began another 6 month mission to northern NSW, starting mid '99. We performed at venues such as The Great Northern Hotel in Byron Bay, including gigs in Lismore and Ballina, and Headlined The Channon Music Festival, while also playing numerous parties and acoustic sets. The move was a huge success and SIDESHOW returned with a bursting 8-track recorder filled with a further 23 songs, which we have added to our consistently powerful live show.
