Artist History
Originally known as OUTSIDER and starting with Pauls solo project back in 1996, SPACEHOTEL was `born` in 2001. A new name for a newer sound. Paul writes, produces and sings the bands songs, sometimes with, what seems, a sense of self loathing, other times with an almost scary optimism. Paul also supplies the songs guitar and synthesizer parts. Nadia grooves along on Bass guitar, supplying a deep counter melody to the songs and brings a punky edge to the sound on some material. Gaz Helps fill out the sound with his guitar parts and backing vocals when the songs are played live. The elusive drummer `Nial upmost` is still too scary to reveal to the world, you`ll just have to come and see us play!
The music contains elements of surprise, analog synthesis soundscapes, brooding heavy rock guitar, string sections, chilled out piano and other sounds which make the songs varied but with a common stylistic signature. The sound does not seek to fit in with what is considered a fashionable sound, merely a reflection of a bands hazy yet epic concept.
Influences from progressive pop and punk of the seventies, new wave pop of the eighties and even newer `new wave` rock of the nineties blend to help create the sound of SPACEHOTEL. We hope you enjoy it.
