Artist description
Animated collaborator Brandon Lutge brings a powerful voice and lyric to song. Brandon's deep tones are at the same time a smooth blues and a rough hewn gravel; he has been compared favorably to Jim Morrison, Lemy Kilmister, Tom Waits, Louie Armstrong, Rob Zombie and Layne Staley. Jay Devine's guitars range from hefty hooks to singing melodies and tasty leads. The songs slapped up at this MP3.com page consist mostly of solo instrumental material in tribute to various artists. I compose these 'throw away' ditties in collaboration with musicians in several local S.F. Bay Area and Boston area bands including NMSO4/Crooked, My Victim/Bad Press, Lean/Little Yellow Perfect, Anvil Chorus/Black Sun and Slightly Mad. The songs in no way reflect our acts original material. I post these pieces merely for fun. We are working on a very heavy, very "now" modern alternitive hard rock/industrial metal set. |

Artist History
I began studying music when I was 14. I studied under former Joe Satraini pupil, a man who took over teaching duties for Joe when Joe's career took off, Doug Doppler. I have also had a year of formal classical training under a faculty member at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. I have played with former members of 'Anvil Chorus', 'Assassin/My Victim/Bad Press' (name changes over 17 years), 'Lean', 'Little Yellow Perfect', 'Black Sun', Carley Simon, Curtis Knight, 'Fantasia', 'NMSO4', 'Crooked', 'Slightly Mad', 'Warning', 'Devious Misfortune' and 'Demized Faith'; among others, I was in Bay Area bands called 'Black Widow' as well as 'Assassin'. A few buddies and I played a few informal gigs in college. In addition, I played out in the Bay Area with 'Subjected' in the early 90's and joined Thaen Rasmussen's "Black Sun" in 2002. My reccent collaboration, '9 to 1', completed a four song demo in early 2003. My new band finished a three song demo in the fall of 2003. |

Group Members
My good friend and collaborator, drummer/engineer Brandon Caddigan of NMSO4/Crooked (NMSO4.com), died 11/21/01. I dedicate these tributes and songs at mp3.com in memory to Brandon. He was a beautiful human being and a true bro; he will be sorely missed. Guitarist Jay Devine and singer Brandon Lutge are core songwriters in "9 to 1". Guitarist/engineer Bill Storkson (Audiosfx.com), guitarist/engineer Noel Jay (www.mp3.com - seek 'OWM' out of Atlanta. Noel's uncle, Steve Jay, is of the renowned Wierd Al Yankovich band), guitarist Thaen Rasmussen (Anvil Chorus/Black Sun), Washington D.C. area punk bassist Rob Martin, bassist Chris Stevens (Leanmusic.com, Little Yellow Perfect), drummer/engineer Brandon Caddigan, drummer Erik Fazio, drummer Slade Anderson (Snot, Mordred, Mersinary, My Victim), drummer Jason Sohagen, drummer Johnny Gelbert (johnnyjdrums.com), bassist Tony Puleo (basswave.com), Singer Sal DiFillipo (Slightly Mad), have collaborated at various points on a large, diverse collection of material over the last two years. Various songs might appear at this web site from time to time. These musical renditions are homage pieces composed for fun and do not reflect songs composed by "9 to 1". |
