Artist History
In March 2001, Gary Cantrell (guitar, vocals) met Jason Agatone (guitar) and the two started practicing and writing songs together. Eager to get their band on the move, Gary and Jason knew exactly who they wanted to complete their band. In May of 2001, shortly after quitting their previous band, Larry Mullins (bass, vocals) and Chris Barrett (drums) joined up with Gary and Jason to finally complete the band known as The Youth Machine. The four guys began writing songs together as a whole band, but felt something wasn't clicking. Shortly after, Gary, Jason, Larry, and Chris realized what wasn't clicking with their band...it was the name. After little debate, the four decided to ditch The Youth Machine name, and re-name theirselves...Good Day Gone. The name Good Day Gone originated from a Robert Frost poem, but has no personal meaning to the band as a whole. Two months after being together, Good Day Gone hit the studio to lay down their two song demo cd. People liked what they heard, but Good Day Gone felt they didn't do their best. Four months later, November 2001, after having a new batch of material, GDG re-entered the same studio to record their four song cd/ep, "Swing For The Fences" which turned out to clearly showcase the band's original style. Good Day Gone uses Indie-rock to throw down their unique blend of emo, punk, pop, and alternative to create songs that are almost impossible to forget...songs that will imprint themselves into your mind. GDG writes music straight from the heart and soul. Energy, melody, passion, and aggression unite to form Good Day Gone. Enjoy. |
