Artist History
1990
Marduk was formed by Morgan who's desire is to create the most blasphemous music ever experienced by mankind.
1991
Marduk release the demotape "Fuck Me Jesus" which recives enthusiastic praise and creates a big fanbase. The band also records material for a 7"inch called "Here's no peace" but the band later decides not to release it because they decide to concentrate on a fullength album instead. Also during the year Marduk performes their first and now legendary shows.
1992
The debut album "Dark Endless" is recorded in june and is released on the darkest day of the year in december. During the year Marduk also performs on various locations in Sweden and the cult is growing rapidly.
1993
After being badly ripped off by their label at that time Marduk now signs a deal with the frenchbased label Osmose Productions and records a new album entitled "Those Of The Unlight" which is release in october.
1994
Marduk plays abroad for the first time on a Black Metal festival in Norway. In may/june Marduk's first European tour takes place under the name "Sons Of The Northern Darkness". In the autumn the third fullength album "Opus Nocturne" is recorded and in the end of the year the album is available in the stores.
1995
In february Marduk's second European crusade called "The Winter War" takes place. "Fuck Me Jesus" is released as a MCD in April due to the tremendous demand for the recording, which at this time has gained a heavy cult reputation. Because of the title and cover artwork the release is boycotted in 7 countries. In early June Marduk plays one gig in Mexico City. Marduk spends the fall creating new material.
1996
In february Marduk enters the studio once again to record their new album "Heaven Shall Burn...When We Are Gathered" which hits the shelves of the record stores in june. In the autumn Marduk do their so far most extensive European tour. A new MCD "Glorification" with a remixed track from "Heaven Shall Burn..." + covers of Bathory, Piledriver and Destruction is released during the tour.
1997
The Black Metal Warmachine, Marduk, attacks Europe once again in spring on the shorter "Legion" tour. A live album, entitled "Live In Germania" recorded on four different locations in Germany during the 96 tour for "Heaven Shall Burn..." Is released during the summer and impresses greatly on critics world-wide, proving that Marduk, unlike many others are fully capable of performing their material on stage with the same intensity and feeling as on their studio albums. A single gig is performed together with the reformed Mayhem in former East Germany during midsummer. The ancient recording "Here's No Peace" is released in october on the newly started Swedish label Shadow Rec. During oct/nov Marduk perpetuates the upcoming and long-awaited percursor of "Heaven Shall Burn..." entitled "Nightwing".
1998
In march, the long-awaited followup to "Heaven Shall Burn", "Nightwing", sees the light of day and totally lives up to the expectations as the best the Black Metal scene has to offer. The album wins the hearts of critics worldwide and gains both judgements as a milestone within Black Metal and one of 98's greatest albums. Immediately after the release Marduk participates on the "No Mercy Festivaltour" and turns out as the winning band in several perspectives. During the summer the band writes new material for the coming album, "Panzer Division Marduk". In oct/nov. Marduk is spearheading another European crusade which goes under the name "The Black Metal Assault Tour" and once again Marduk proves to be the heavyweight champion of this kind of music.
1999
In february Marduk entered the Abyss studio once again for the recording of the "Panzer Division Marduk" album which yet up to date is the most furious and outrageous album ever unleashed upon mankind with it's 8 all grinding ferocious battlehymns. The touring which followed started with some warm up shows through scandinavia and was followed by a Japanese tour as well as headlining the Black Metal stage at the Dynamo festival. Some more festivals followed during the summer. And in October/November Marduk continued with a 7 week headline tour all throughout europe. Immediately after getting home the band entered the studio to record the MCD "Obedience".
2000
In march the "Obedience" MCD slammed the recordshelves all over the world. In april the road was being hit again for a shorter European tour together with amongst Deicide and Cannibal Corpse. Due to various reasons Marduk decided to put an end to the co-operation with Osmose productions and getting total control through Morgan`s own label which proved to work better than the previous situation in all different aspects. In may Marduk returned to Mexico for 6 shows. During the summer numerous festivals were being played, among others With Full Force and Wacken Open Air in Germany, Waldrock in Holland and the Summer Rock festival in Budapest, Hungary.
