Artist description Beggarz Opera is an acoustic rock duo in Nashville, TN. We are premised on excellence in songwriting, razor-sharp vocal harmonies, and strong instrumental performances. We respect the legacy of history's great pop songwriters, while still retaining a unique and modern sound all our own.

Artist History Together since late 1997, Beggarz Opera began simply as neighbors. Guitarist/vocalist Sterling Whitaker had placed an ad for a duo partner and, in the process of auditioning potential candidates, his neighbor, songwriter Stephen Frey, heard him playing through the wall. Frey approached Whitaker at the mailbox and, introducing himself, told the struggling musician that he played a regular gig at the Bluebird Cafe, a world-famous songwriter's showcase. He invited Whitaker to accompany him on guitar at his next show, and Whitaker eagerly accepted. When the two men got together to rehearse, they were immediately impressed by the natural blend of their voices, and soon after a successful Bluebird gig, they joined up on a permanent basis as Beggarz Opera. Along the way, they found out that their songwriting chemistry was every bit as good as their vocal blend. The duo is currently working on writing and recording more material.
