Artist History
The Moon Is No More is a concept, a theory, a state of mind, and a band. It's the creative convergence of two brothers, one with a penchant for words, the other for music. It's the intentionally overambitious setting to music of Jeremy's humorously sad novella, "Sans Hands."
In 1995, older brother Joshua leaves his place of birth in Boston for the heat of the Arizona desert. The outlet of his frustration over god-forsaken mall culture and failed relationships becomes a signature brand of acoustic folk-pop.
Meanwhile, in Massachusetts, younger brother Jeremy is basking in the glow of a computer monitor as another night becomes another day, honing what is to become his trademark writing style of no holds barred honesty in the form of short stories intended for no one but himself.
Flash forward to today, Joshua returns after five years as Jeremy begins transforming his literature into the form of a twisted indie-rock-opera, making his first output intended for public consumption musical in nature. This musical concept of TMINM is all his. Prior to TMINM he wrote and sang "Come and Gone" with Joshua in 1999 (to be included on TMINM's upcoming album). His lyrical adaptation resonates a certain camaraderie with the likes of Pedro the Lion and Neutral Milk Hotel.
In June of 2001 Jeremy dropped a ream of handwritten stream of consciousness wordplays on Joshua's lap. Joshua is tasked with breathing life into them in musical directions familiar and new. His musical experience begins as a confessionalist folk-pop singer-songwriter, followed by techno-pop (Sweet Machines) and pop-punk (Cleary). He has dispensed with "pop" as a qualifier and created a distinct sound complementing Jeremy's words. He is inspired by Half Visconte, Angel Falls, and Reubens Accomplice.
TMINM has three albums written, and is working on recording the first, Jeffrey L. Allen, at this time. Thanks to Angie, Carl, Vin, Graham, Eric, Katie, and others. |

Press Reviews
"Gentle Indie-folk guitars and a snap-tight drummer support this sensitive singer-songwriter in well-written, sad songs. This is understated, with Lo-fi sonic humility but the depth of feeling and particular songcraft speak of a talent worth checking out." Listen.com re: The Sweet Machines |
